I’ve been mostly eating recently, that and wandering streets looking at what people do in their gardens. I think I’ve always valued a healthy relationship with food. which is different depending on who you are, but I think a sense of inquisitiveness is key. I wish I had a collection of food to show at the bottom of this post, but I don’t.
I’ve also been obsessed with crows, they’re everywhere in Sapporo. I saw a lady feed fish heads and talk to one on the top of her van outside a coffee shop on the first day. You can’t really get away from them, even when we took a day trip to Otaru there were crows. But they’re not like what you see in London, their feathers are bright and clean, and they hop around everywhere, somehow they feel like they have less malice. That might just be them cawing though, the most ridiculous sound you can think for a bird, like an old man mocking you. I’ve had to delete the vast majority of the photos I have of them, keep the ones I don’t want to rot in storage.
I think they’re nicer than pigeons, they do make me feel a little less safe though.
